Roobies Farm is set in its own eight acres in the midst of miles of Somerset countryside. Situated at the foot of the Quantock Hills (an area of oustanding natural beauty) the views are magnificent - of both the hills themselves and the wide, open countryside.

The core of the house dates from the 1600's, with later additions. The house and threshing barn are grade II listed, as is a painting in the dining room (of a rural hunting scene) depicting local landmarks - an impression of how they looked over three hundred years ago.

The house and barns are situated up a 1/2 mile private lane, surrounded by footpaths and offering total peace and seclusion.

Taunton with its excellent shopping facilities is twenty minutes drive over the stunning Quantock Hills. Fiddington is located only 45 minutes from Bristol by car, ninety minutes to London and Birmingham by train. Within half an hour's reach is the beauty of Exmoor, Minehead, the Brendon Hills and the Somerset levels. Bridgwater Town is approximately 15 minutes away by car and here you will find plenty of supermakets and local shops. Closer by there are a number of farm shops and further shopping facilities in the village of Nether Stowey. The area is full of delightful pubs all comfortable with children and some even happy for you to bring your dogs!

The rugged jurassic coast of Somerset, with their distinctive beaches are all close by. There are fossil beaches, sandy and cobble beaches as well as beaches suitable for surfing and body boarding. The bird nature reserve at Steart (part of the River Parret Trail) and many leisure activities such as two local golf courses (one private and one municipal), shooting, fishing (course, game and sea), riding, walking, swimming and sightseeing are all on the doorstep.

The history of the region is all around us. From the jurassic, prehistoric and iron age, through the romans, anglo saxons - the Glastonbury of King Arthur to Athelney and the marshes of King Alfred the Great - the Viking invasions at Watchet to the Domesday book.

The area is rich with the evidence of these periods, through the middle ages to the civil war - in which Somerset played a large part with the battle of Sedgemoor, the last battle fought on English soil. Bridgwater was a thriving town in the industrial age and shows evidence of investment and transformation for the future. it also hosts the Bridgwater Carnival, the biggest illuminated carnival in the UK. This past has left its legacy. Places of interest are varied and include Hestercombe House, Cleeve Abbey and Dunster Castle.
